Hello, reader!

I’m Berta Ferrerarquitecta de libros, architect of books. An expert in unconventional narratives and in books that highlight their own materiality.

I am convinced that the printed book is more necessary than ever in this age of screens. My academic and creative work focuses on the possibilities of the physical book as a communication tool in the digital era.

Iresearch and write about books, design books, teach about books, run workshops about books, and talk about books. A very important part of my work consists of conducting international workshops and seminars that seek to challenge the conventions of reading and the materiality of the book.

I hold a PhD in Typography and Graphic Communication from the University of Reading (UK), a Master’s in Graphic Design (University of the Arts London), and another in Architecture (Universitat Politècnica de València).

I am also a coordinator and lecturer in the BA in Graphic Design & Digital Media at LABA Valencia School of Arts, Design & New Media; and I teach in the BA Graphic Communication and the MA Communication Design at the University of Reading (UK).
